Not Far Away
Posted by TulipGirl | Under Theology for Girls Sunday Mar 13, 2005I read somewhere that most people are never more than eight feet from a spider. Spiders are ubiquitous and secretive. Suffering is like that, everywhere and hidden. We have lost people we love, we have frittered away time and dreams, we have discovered betrayal where we expected love, we have been abused, we have been despised, we have been suffocated by indifference.
–Tony Woodlief
O Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll,
The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend;
“Even so”
If these thoughts of suffering apply to you today, TulipGirl, I want to offer you a hug.

With love and a prayer from Alabama…
I was listening to that very hymn this morning, and I was consumed by the thought that no matter what it is well with my SOUL. How overwhelming.
Hugs and blessings to you friend…
Jan
Thank you, Ruthanne, for your prayers.
I’m so glad you’re blogging, Jan. I’ve been reading, but not commenting–blogger has been weird for me lately. (And other comment systems, too.)
Ahh, It is well with my soul too. Even if the Refiner’s Fire is hot. *grin* thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for this post. I have been reading your blog. You are a positive soul. I definitely will come back.
Blessings…
I’m agreeing with Ruthanne. Not sure if this applies to you personally…so, I’ll pray for you today anyway. Just so you know, you are a blessing to me. I find encouragement reading your blog. You don’t put a lot of personal things on here, but I know you must have a heavy load to shoulder sometimes, most times. I hope today you are able to rest in Jesus. I will be praying for you.
So I guess I’m the only shallow person who couldn’t get past the “EIGHT FEET FROM A SPIDER!!!!” point?
