Highlights of the Week:
* Really cool school supplies.
* Morning and evening routines went smoothly. Mostly.
* School uniforms are great. Except when we get to school and see that one of the older boys is wearing the younger boys too-short-shorts.
* Lunch box lunches!
* The elementary school principal was part of an MK school in Africa for 13 years, and really understands the transitions.
* T7 really connected with his teacher, Mrs. E. And he gets to sit in the front row.
* Lots of hugs at drop off and pick up.
* R6’s confidence at school.
* Meeting with the teachers at the end of the week to assess things.
* Solid teachers, even if they aren’t Presbyterian.

Thanks for the hug.

Your kids are so cute! I started school too–homeschool that is.

I saw our mutual friend, L.H. at church a couple weeks ago. Small world, eh?

mtnmama:

How is C4 doing with the other boys being away? It was on my mind all week and then i forgot to ask when we were talking yesterday?

Joyella! Are they at your church regularly, or just visiting? I know they are in the states for awhile, with the medical issues they are dealing with.

mtnmama–oh, he SO much wants to go to school with brothers. I’m now “packing” a lunch for him each day, because he wants the lunch brothers have. “They had TWO peanut butter sandwiches and I didn’t get ANY!” He was the only one in school last year, and I know he would do great in K this year. But. . . Agewise, he’s not allowed to attend K in Florida. I think it’ll be okay, though–he’s having special Daddy time.

Love that first photo. My wife is a teacher and for several years the photographer at the school would do a class photo. The first one was serious, but he always took a second comic shot “if the kids did well in the first one.” She and I kept the comic shots with them making faces, and eventually lost the serious ones.

How long is your school year? Is it typical to begin school there in mid-August?

Thanks for the update on the kids at school. I’ve been thinking about your family all week. PTL for your good word and pics. YAY!!!

How wonderful these pictures are! I love the first one especially. We’re starting tomorrow (also in the South). I’m still trying to cope with the fact that my eldest is going to middle school (6th) tomorrow. My Nina is going to 4th as well. I am praying for another great year for all.

Glad things are going well at school. I also have one 4th grader and one 1st grader. We also share in common three older ones in school and a little one left at home (who cries when we drop them off). I pray that the year goes well for all of you.

[...] was shocked to see the pics of J on his first day of school when we got back to the states. He was so little! Yet, I thought of him as so big. Now C is the age [...]
