Listen to Biographies, Thanks to Monergism

Included are a series by John Piper including lectures on David Brainerd, John G. Paton, William Wilberforce, J. Gresham Machen (C5 was almost named Machen), Martin Luther and John Calvin, of course, and many more. Also available are historical biographies by Michael Haykin including Athanasius and Basil, Leo and Patrick, Charles Finney & Revivalism, Horatius Bonar, and many others.
I started with Piper on Jonathan Edwards, especially since I’ve recently been reading on Edwards’ theology of children

I’m not usually a fan of Piper, tbh, but they sound pretty interesting.

*L* I’ve noticed Hubby volunteers more often to clean the kitchen now that he’s listening to the Covenant Seminary lectures.
That book you’re reading sounds good. I hope you will let us know if it’s recommended.

Missy, if the chapter on Edwards were available in essay form, I’d definitely recommend reading it. But as the book is more of a history and has a lot of other essays in it, for the price. . . well. . . I’d recommend it to some people and not to others, if you know what I mean?
I have an essay swimming around my head related to Edwards and children in the Covenant. One of these days. . . *g*

I’ve read some of his books, so I’m not speaking from utter ignorance. I saw him at a conference and everyone was in love with him and I just didn’t get it. He gave me funky vibes. Then I read his books and I’m still not convinced. I don’t hate him or anything, I just don’t run to Barnes and Noble to get the latest copy of his work ;)
Still I *love* listening to my ipod while I clean – its the only way anything gets done. And hey, if I can subscribe to Family Life Today, then surely I could stomach Piper
Funny cooincidence. My husband has been listening to these and burned a CD of them for me. Been listening today to the one on Edwards, and Martin Lloyd-Jones. Was going to recommend them on my blog. Great thought provoking, inspiring biographies. Will listen to them more than once.
