Suburban Sunday
Posted by TulipGirl | Under Creation and Eco Care, Family Journal Sunday Jun 11, 2006I feel sufficiently suburban today.
After church we took a Sunday afternoon nap, and then headed to Home Depot. We bought a goodly supply of home repair and lawn equipment, and came home to work in the yard.
Some of the google searches we’ve done today:
how to clean tile grout
cinch bugs and st. augustine grass
energy efficiency florida
celcius farenheit conversion
ha! I’ve had one of those days recently. My search was “repairing a popcorn ceiling” and “replacing a tub surround.”
It kind of suprised me that TULIP girl would visit Home Depot on the sabbath????!!! Here is the Westminster Shorter Catechism on the 4th commandment. You seem to enjoy the catechism, so I thought I would share.
Q. 57. Which is the fourth commandment?
A. The fourth commandment is, Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservent, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.[141]
Q. 58. What is required in the fourth commandment?
A. The fourth commandment requireth the keeping holy to God such set times as he hath appointed in his Word; expressly one whole day in seven, to be a holy sabbath to himself.[142]
Q. 59. Which day of the seven hath God appointed to be the weekly sabbath?
A. From the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, God appointed the seventh day of the week to be the weekly sabbath;[143] and the first day of the week ever since, to continue to the end of the world, which is the Christian sabbath.[144]
Q. 60. How is the sabbath to be sanctified?
A. The sabbath is to be sanctified by a holy resting all that day, even from such worldly employments and recreations as are lawful on other days;[145] and spending the whole time in the public and private exercises of God
Lydia, I knew someone would mention that we did this on the Sabbath. . . *grin*
You are right to refer me to the Westminster Catechism. Yet, I am still imperfect in faith and practice. (But I was honest about it–the thought did cross my mind to date it for Saturday, but just couldn’t do that.)
