If You Came To Our House. . .
Posted by TulipGirl | Under Blog Stuff Tuesday May 27, 2008A friend of mine started a meme. . . and though I wasn’t tagged, I just couldn’t resist joining in!
“People who visit us get a taste of who we are, what we’re into, and what we’re like. I notice that my kids tend to show new visitors the same computer things they like, or play music for them that they love that our guests have probably never heard, and offer the same snacks.
Since there are lots of people I know via the internet who may never get the chance to visit us, I thought I’d offer a virtual glimpse of a visit to our house.”
If you came to our house. . .
You would see:
An oil painting of a kitchen (my sis has a copy painted by my brother), a portrait of a conductor (a painting that rightfully belongs to my sis, but we have for now), a print that portrays Ukraine which was a crazy ordeal to buy my last day in Kyiv, and bookshelves lining each wall.
We’d probably feed you:
Green Thai Curry, for dinner
Breakfast tacos, if it’s morning
And offer you this to drink:
Old Bisbee Roaster’s coffee!
We’d undoubtedly ask if you’d read:
Whatever we’re currently reading
C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien or J.K. Rowlings
Berkhof or Keller
We’d want to play this music for you:
From Pandora. . . Cab Calloway, Asylum Street Spankers, The Fratellis, Edith Piaf, TMBG, the Ramones, Duke Ellington
From YouTube. . . Safety Dance, TMBG,
We’d want to tell you the latest about:
What our crazy kids have done or said
We’d probably suggest a game of:
Chess, mechwarrior, spades or marco polo
We might would definitely show off:
Our books
We might get on the computer and show you:
Hubby’s blog, family pictures, or the latest humorous youtube vid
If it was a long enough visit, we might watch:
Ummmm. . . hmmmm. . . depends upon the friend. . .
What would a visit to your house be like?

Wow! I got your comment on my blog this morning and it dawned on me – we have satellite internet now, maybe I can access your blog again, now that I don’t have a Ukrainian IP any more. Yea!!! I can!! I’ll have my post on the tag up sometime today :) It’s good to read you again!!
I don’t think my answers would be classy enough to do this. I’ll let you know. Thanks for tagging me though. Hope your week is going well.
Thanks for joining in! I should have just tagged everyone on my RSS feed, then I would have gotten you and Elizabeth.
Hmmmm…I’m saving this because when we move, it would be a lot of fun to talk about what people will see!!
I just bought some Picasso (Maternity) and Klimt’s (Mother & Child–can’t remember exact name).
Anyways, it was very fun to read…too bad FL isn’t closer to NE….Chad could use some good coffee right now and we’re out (so–it’s time to mooch off friends!! haha).
Oh, Carol! Don’t be silly! *grin* I’ve seen pics of your house before and glimpses of your life!
Oh yes, Shanna, this should be fun when you are in your new house!
Hooray, Cindie! So glad that we can be in touch better via blog.
Aw, I feel so honored. :)
This was fun… though a bit strange since I finished moving only yesterday!
Darling, easy to know what we watch when we come;-)
Here is my list

Shanna, there is a coupon code on the OBR page for $5 off first time orders. With that coupon and free shipping, two pounds of yummy coffee is about the same as 4 visits to Starbucks. (See how easily I justify my coffee indulgence!)
 Thank you for stopping by via Carol. It was fun to play… just waiting on the few I tagged. anyhoo. have a great weekend and coming week as well. blessings, Mica
Well, I finally posted! Thanks for tagging me. I would love to someday actually see your house in person. Taking 4 little kids with us wherever we go can be a bit much for some!
*L* Oh, I know (about taking four kids on visits to other people’s homes.) Though, last fall our family vacation included the boys and I spending a week in Amish country with Aunt Sherry. And even with her kids grown, she was sooooo kid-friendly and it was so restful. (It helped that Evan and Natalie wore them out!)
That said. . . As long as our four boys don’t overwhelm our guests, we love having company! (hint, hint)
