In Everything Give Thanks - 11/24

Monday Nov 24, 2008

Cultivating a thankful heart, looking to God as provider and sustainer, each day this month I’m posting that for which I’m thankful. . .

* Boys who like brie
* Cannolis and coffee-milk
* Encouragement from unexpected quarters
* Long, long-distance calls
* Laughter

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Th 5:18

Boys who like Brie! You and Hubby have raised those boys right!

We had my MIL, BIL and his fiance, and my SIL for dinner after church on Sunday. We had brie and crackers before dinner, and I was surprised that the boys loved the brie as much as I do! Hubby brought home cannolis as a “treat” for the boys the other day. *grin*

Thankfully, the boys are willing to try just about anything and eat most foods without complaint. Part of our family food protocol, however, is allowing one item that the boys can choose to never eat. For my oldest, it is raw onions. For my second, carrots. My third chose monkey brains, until he realized I never actually make those. Hubby’s “one thing” is lima beans. I still cook with carrots, onions, etc. . . but the boys are allowed to eat around them. I think it helps them be willing to try things when they know they have some control over eliminating what they really don’t like. After all, I have food preferences, too.
