Friday Nov 14, 2008

The dates for advent this year are:

Just a reminder for myself as Advent approaches. . .

I’m so glad you posted this…I’m writing it on my calendar. (sneaks up on me every year.)

Jon and I talked about doing a Jesse tree for advent, but I think that might be a bit too difficult while we are living in different cities:-( However, I do have some great readings that I think we are going to try to do together. I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas with someone again, and Jon’s family didn’t do Advent, so it will be all new to him!

Thank you so much for the reminder. I was so focused on Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving that I hadn’t been paying attention to the fact that Advent would be starting three days later.

I’ve been looking up links for ADvent stuff with the kids… Thanks for the date reminder!

TulipGirl:

It sneaks up on me every year. *blush* I think we’re not going to do our Jesse Tree this year (Rebecca — it was given to us by the Cardinals!) In the past we’ve chosen a hymn each week to learn, made an advent wreath. . . Still planning and thinking for this year.

The site below has some neat information about Advent and Christmas customs. I love the Advent wreath tradition…I think it’s one of the most beautiful, and meaningful, for families.
