That's interesting, Jill. . . The more I learn about Ronald Reagan, the more dear he is to me.

Ellen, I'm becoming more and more disturbed about the economy. Raising taxes isn't going to help anyone -- and it is going to HURT those who are most vulnerable -- like the elderly living on retirement investments which will be subject to a higher capital gains tax. And the ballooning of government? I was dissatisfied with how things under George W. seemed to be eating away at our liberties and freedoms, but the way things are going now. . . it's escalating. . . I'm not a fearful or pessimistic person, and yet all this "change" seems to be targeted at exchanging our freedoms for government.

My parents had an opportunity to stay at a bed and breakfast in Ariaona a few years ago. The proprieter had worked in the Whitehouse under Reagen and Carter.
The stories that she shared with my parents were polar opposite with what the media conveyed to the American Public. Nancy and Ronny were real... what you saw was really what you got. Jimmy and the Mrs. however were quite mean to the staff and very angry. I recently read an update on a Habitat Community in Fla. that was promoted by the Press as WONDERFUL b/c Jimmy,Brad Piit and other celebrities worked on... The housing is toxic and the owners are beside themselves as their children are in extreme danger b/c of major health issues.
They covered over waste......then built these WONDERFUL homes. Hmmmmmmmmmmm... there seems to be a corolation to my two stories. It's what's underneath. Beauty, in all forms, is only skin deep.

When Jeff and I were headed to a hockey game, several hours away, we heard a terrific interview on Mike Huckabee's show on Fox News on Sirius radio. The speaker was discussing the need for immediate, and drastic, steps with regards to our economy...and most of his facts came right out of President Reagan's policies. I wish the "what is old is new again" would come into vogue politically and economically...with a mind towards our current situation.
