Bird Schooling

Thursday Apr 28, 2011

Yesterday, the gardener caught a little bird for the boys. I’m still not sure what kind it was. The boys were so excited, they
made a little house for it, we had bird seed already. . .

Today doing school, R12 and C10 did school with the birdie on their fingers.

Sadly, their birdie died this evening. They buried him in the backyard.

Hubby says we need to get a dog this weekend.

Aw, it was a little robin. Cute fella, but I’ve never had much luck with them, either. I want to rescue them, but just don’t seem to be able to provide what mama does.

Well, N, I’m saying. . . Not yet! Let’s get settled first! But the Roar had some cute Rot/Hound pups that caught my Hubby’s eye. (Why oh why did that have to be this week!?)

Dana, I think this was ill-fated from the beginning, but “not a sparrow falls. . .”

Hello, I am Gus and Adri Espino’s D-in-law. We are foreign service as well and currently live in Warsaw, Poland. I enjoy reading your blog. I wanted to ask, was the poor little bird missing an eye?

Hello, Rachel! We met once, briefly, when you visited Florida.

(But we were sitting behind you in church, so I got to see your kiddos more than you saw mine!)

I’m thrilled you are in Warsaw where Nate is — will make it easier for family to visit, right? *grin* And if you want to come on safari… well, you have a place to come in Nairobi!

I don’t think the bird was missing an eye, but something was not quite right before the gardener caught him. The boys were oh-so-upset when he died, and they buried him in the middle of the backyard, and marked it with a red rose.

Their sadness was fuel for Hubby’s campaign for a dog. (I dread the idea of moving with a dog. . . Well, really, I dread the idea of a dog. Babies are easier!)
