Real Ultimate Ezzo!!!

Have you seen the "cult classic" webpage, Real Ultimate Power Ninjas?

I first saw it linked from Mike and Kristen's blog. It spawned a whole slew of parodies.

The latest is one I think y'all might get a laugh from:

I'm not sure why the Ezzos are threatening to anyone, instead of ridiculous to everybody.

Ezzo is to child development what Lyndon LaRouche is to national politics: a confirmed crackpot.

I ask again: do we really need book-length refutations of Ezzo? The man is clearly a poltroon, a monad, a rocket without a payload.

Yeah, you'd think it would be really obvious to everyone, huh?

Yet, Ezzo does have a way of enticing parents into believing what he says is true. And not just true, but BEST for their family and baby.

Not long ago Ezzo transplanted to Charleston, SC. He's been welcomed into a "seeker sensitive" church that now has so many families gung-ho to follow his parenting edicts, that those who don't feel very unwelcome. And some who are involved in lactation help / child development have mentioned an increase in the very problems that Ezzo's teaching have been associated with--milk supply problems, delayed growth, etc.

And sadly, I still meet too many new parents in Reformed circles who are praising Ezzo and Babywise. (I keep hoping that at least THERE, the misuse of Scripture will be picked up on right away.)

So while I'd like to think Gary Ezzo is a "confirmed crackpot" in the minds of most Evangelical and mainstream parents, sadly I don't think we're there yet.

I am continually suprised to run into people IRL who recommend Ezzo to me. I am continually annoyed that Barnes and Noble, Borders, et. al. stock his books. It's obvious to me, but it's not obvious to everyone else, unfortunately!
