Keep the Customer Satisfied

I've spent the evening not blogging, but listening to a new double-CD of Simon and Garfunkel and following along with the lyrics. Hubby bought it for me when we were in the center today--gotta love living in the piracy capital of the world.

S&G have quite a sentimental hold over me. I remember being 11 and waking up early in the morning, going out to my Dad's camaro, and listening his S&G 8-track until I had to go to school.

Now the years are rolling by me,
they are rockiní even me
I am older than I once was,
and younger than Iíll be, thatís not unusual
No it isnít strange, after changes upon changes,
we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same

Can you imagine us
Years from today,
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange
To be seventy.
Old friends. . .

Itís the same old story
Everywhere I go,
I get slandered,
I hear words I never heard
In the Bible. . .

Time, time, time, see whatís become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities

Slow down, you move too fast.
You got to make the morning last.
Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feeliní groovy.

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out itís warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me;
I am shielded in my armor,
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb. . .

I'm listening to Simon and Garfunkel now. Great minds think alike.

if you like Simon and Garfunkel, then try:

Chantal Eden - she's French, but it's great, mainly on themes of changing the world, in a chanson/folk style.

Your Dad had a Camaro and listened to Simon and Garfunkel??

I do love their music.

Sherry, great minds. *g*

Thanks, Todd, for the recommendation. Since she's French, maybe Hubby will be able to find her here. American music (unless it's old or super-poppy) is harder to find.

Liza, yeah. He's a cool frood. Good to see you, btw.

Oooooh. I love S&G! I remember listening to their version of "Silent Night" with the evening news playing in the background. That song used to scare me to death as a young teenager. I think it was the stark confrontation of good and evil that startled me so much, and I still can't listen to that song.
