Blog Call!
Inspired by Megan, who borrowed it from Keeley Steger. . .
Come on, comment. . . It’ll be fun.
1. How often do you check my blog?
2. Do you have a blog of your own? If so, what is the link? If no, why not?
3. Why do you visit my blog?
4. What are some other good blogs that you read?
Thanks for playing along. I’m always just *so* curious!

1. A lot - 5x per week?
2. No. I'm a reader-lurker-occasional-commenter-type. I'm not a good writer. And, if I had a blog, I'd fear I'd never get off the computer; my family would not be happy about that!
3. Your husband's blog is the first I ever read and I loved the things he would say about "The Duchess", so I was excited when I saw that you had your own blog. Your parenting style is the opposite of everyone I know IRL and I think it is good for me to see another POV. The ex-pat/missionary life fascinates me. You were kind and encouraging when I shared some very personal spiritual stuff. I like you!
4. Quiet Life w/ Miz Booshay. Mental Multivitamin w/MFS. The Badgermum w/Kelly, though she's taking a break. This Classical Life w/ Kirsten. There are several others I check once a week or so, but these are my favorites.

1. At least 5x per week.
2. I do have a blog. The address is http://hannahim.blogspot.com
3. I started blogging not so long ago when you were doing your Ezzo series. I enjoyed it and was interested also when I learned that you live in Ukraine.
4. Okay, I read Sparrow at http://fixed-intent.blogspot.com, Catez at http://allthings2all.blogspot.com, Thicket Dweller at http://todayslessons.blogspot.com, Testimony and Truth at http://mbmcclendon.blogspot.com
Posted by: Dogwood Blue at March 19, 2005 01:13 PM
I usually check it when it pops up that you have a new entry on my bloglines.
My blog is http://herdofsteph.blogspot.com.
I found you through something about the Ezzo's and have hung around. :-)
Some of my favorite reads are Think Pink, http://prattlingpastorswife.blogspot.com/, http://afternoon-tea.blogspot.com/ and way too many more... :-)
Posted by: stephanie at March 19, 2005 02:49 PM
1. As often as you post since I follow your blog via RSS feed on Bloglines.
2. Yes. Reverend Mike's House of Homiletic Hash (http://blog.revmike.us)
3. Continued interest in your family's life abroad.
4. such small hands, theheresy.com, Dashhouse.com and of course, the incomparable Le Sabot Post-Moderne. ;)
Posted by: Rev. Mike at March 19, 2005 02:57 PM
1. 2 or 3 times per week
2. No. My 17 yods keeps offering to set one up for me, but I'm a bit reluctant to commit to something I have to keep up! I have plenty to say on other people's blogs but I'm afraid I'd freeze up if I had to come up with something to say on my own on a regular basis! (In other words, laziness!)
3. I was looking for blogs by homeschoolers and saw that yours had been nominated for a BOB award. The fact that you were in Ukraine was fascinating as ds had chosen the Ukraine elections for a speech topic. I've enjoyed a lot of your links and your husband's too, especially the ex-ATI-guy.
4. I read Quiet Life daily, did read Shades of White by Jean in Wisc. (but she's on leave.....sob.) I check out others from the Well-Trained Mind on occasion when I have more time.
Posted by: Sandy C. at March 19, 2005 02:59 PM
1. I come here daily!
2. My blog's at http://afternoon-tea.blogspot.com
3. I come here 'cause you're so doggone honest and you never ruffle my feathers. Guess we're like-minded enough that I find myself nodding my head rather than pulling out my hair!
4. I really enjoy Jordana at Curmudgeonry (who you link to), and Patricia at Out of the Frying Pan (http://tryon.blogspot.com). Just honest folks who aren't out to impress...just real stuff.
Posted by: Melissa at March 19, 2005 03:01 PM
1. Every morning with my tea.
2. Just started one recently. http://theoldfarmhouse.blogspot.com/ Just wanted a place to sound off about things.
3. Have a son adopted from Ukraine, and liked reading about daily life there. Just also enjoy your take on things.
4. Of course read postmodernclog :-) also periodically read a number of blogs you note.
Posted by: Missy at March 19, 2005 04:34 PM
1. Almost daily.
2. No. Part of me would love to blog, but I really don't have time and I guess I'm too private. :)
3. I've appreciated your thoughts and the grace with which you've expressed them everywhere I've bumped into you on the web, so I'm always ready to hear more. More recently (past couple years) I've appreciated your prayers and friendship. Finally, since I have family on the mission field and Eastern Europe is close to my heart, I enjoy hearing about missions in general and Ukraine in particular.
4. Love School@Home (Tenniel) and This Classical Life (Kristen).
Posted by: Stephanie at March 19, 2005 04:45 PM
1. Usually daily 5x a week anyway
Posted by: Sherri-Ann at March 19, 2005 04:46 PM
2.Yes, but I don't post very often, I want to but then...
3. I found you first I think thru some stuff about Ezzos and enjoyed your view. I love reading about other ways to parent. You have inspired me to look at why I parent the way I do and how to change what I have always known. I also love hearing about your life in Ukraine, although I haven't been reading long enough to know the exact reason why you are there or what you do there.
4. Miz Booshay, Classic Adventures, Shades of White, Think Pink...a few others once in awhile.
1. daily

3.i'm tozhe a missionary in Ukraine so i can sooo relate sometimes.
4. receipes and that familiar...oh yes, i know what that's like!
5. some of the same as Stephanie above and a couple secular stateside people so I can remember what was joyful and what seemed difficult to me over there. ;')
1. About twice a week. I only have time to check most of my favorites about that often.
Posted by: Sherry at March 19, 2005 06:57 PM
2.Semicolon
3. We have homeschooling and books and commitment to Christ in common, and I like seeing what's going on in Ukraine. And I'm tired of parenting experts that mess people up.
4. My favorites are in my blogroll at my blog. I have lots.
1. How often do you check my blog?
Every day I'm on the computer- I check the gcm blogring, then here and a couple other blogs I read. :)2. Do you have a blog of your own? If so, what is the link? If no, why not?
Yes- it's on the GCM blogring.3. Why do you visit my blog?
Because I like to read your thoughts on things. :)4. What are some other good blogs that you read?
Posted by: Elizabeth from GCM at March 19, 2005 07:07 PM
Too many to mention... in addition to the GCM blogring, I also like's Jenn's blog at knittedinthewomb, though she doesn't update as often as you!
1. I come almost every day, and sometimes twice!
Posted by: Kim in ON at March 19, 2005 07:46 PM
2. My blog is http://theupwardcall.blogspot.com, but you already know that!
3. I come here because I love what you write about theology, parenting, your life in the Ukraine, and because you're so very gracious in the way you write. The way you respond to those who don't like your parenting views is admirable. I don't think I'd be quite so diplomatic.
4. I like lots of blogs...hard to say. Quiet Life, Rebecca Writes, A Sort of Notebook, Intent, Classic Adventures, Challies.com, Promptings....the list goes on and on.
. How often do you check my blog? Usually once a day.
2. Do you have a blog of your own? If so, what is the link? If no, why not? Yes, amleko.blogspot.com
3. Why do you visit my blog? You always have links to interesting articles, and I like to hear about life in the Ukraine.
4. What are some other good blogs that you read?
Posted by: Amie at March 19, 2005 08:15 PM
I check in here about once, maybe twice a week.
I enjoy your perspective, and your graciousness. I have also learned interesting things from you, especially about the Ukraine.
I have a blog at www.abiding.blogspot.com. It is nothing controversial or wordy...just a little fun for me.
I read many of the ones already mentioned...Quietlife is a daily favorite.
Posted by: Leslie at March 19, 2005 11:02 PM
1. Usually check your blog twice a day.
2. Yep, as you know I blog! The address is www.rummynation.blogspot.com
3. I like to visit your blog because I'm interested in Ukraine (been there as a short-term missionary, and am a graduate student at Georgetown working on my Ph.D. in Russian History, which includes Ukraine!), am a Christian--love the encouragement!--and like to read about not just your cultural experiences, but about your thoughts on theology and homeschooling (I was homeschooled for a couple of years way back when it wasn't so popular).
4. Some other good blogs are deaconpaul.blogspot.com, paxifist.blogspot.com (she's a dear friend, and may be another missionary to Ukraine soon--along with her husband and young son), girlofthesouth.blogspot.com, and I do like to check in with iraqthemodel.blogspot.com, too.
Posted by: Christina at March 19, 2005 11:38 PM
1. Whenever I check my email--ranges from once a day to once every three hours or so.
3. Fellow Christian home schooler who is trying to be a gentle parent. Found your blog by following a link from a link from Evangelical Underground, I think.
4. I also read Real Live Preacher, Slacktivist, Anne's Cafe, Amy loves Books, Knitted in the Womb, and some blogs belonging to various members of my extended family.
Posted by: cjmr at March 20, 2005 06:52 PM
1. Only on weekends but would like to be able to do it more often!
2. http://curiousgoldie.blogspot.com/
3. To stay in touch, to read the updates on your family.
You always have interesting info/links.4. I'm new and still working on my list of blogs to read. For now, it's The Sound of Music, Sigmund Carl and Alfred, Scheiss Weekly, Stalkers Not Allowed, Zero Boss, Internet Monk (probably not technically a blog but a very good site!), Orthodixie... Postmodern Clog, definitely ;) and many others... I try to read everyone on my blog roll, I just don't have enough time to visit everyone every day.

I didn't realize what an ego boost this would be. *evil grin*
Honestly, though, this was very encouraging for me today. And I'm so glad to have y'all's blogs all in one place (and the recommendations for several that are unfamiliar. . .)
Thank you. *mush, mush*

I'm a TulipGirl junkie and check you *at least* once a day.
My blog is http://megan.navstaff.com
I come here because I like you, too! In a weird sort of way you feel like a friend to me and since we're making a double move soon, I'm going to be needing friends to go along with me!
The ones I read the most are marked on my blog.
PS - I know what you mean about the "ego boost" :)

1. How often do you check my blog?
about five times a week.
2. Do you have a blog of your own? If so, what is the link? If no, why not?
The Common Room; http://heartkeepercommonroom.blogspot.com
3. Why do you visit my blog?
I first visited it when I was trying to gather some good information on the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. I keep coming back because I am also a breastfeeding advocate, and I still miss it- even though my youngest, at six years old, hasn't nursed in four years.
I agree with you about the Ezzos completely, (less so about the Pearls, but that keeps it interesting. I don't want to read a clone).
I like reading about your family.4. What are some other good blogs that you read?
http://beehive5.blogspot.com/
http://dominionfamily.blogspot.com/
http://booksncoffee.blogspot.com/
http://deweystreehouse.blogspot.com/Mostly, though, I read political blogs- powerline, mudville gazette, wizbang, captains quarters, and so forth.

1. i visit 4-5 times a week.
2. i don't have a blog of my own. i have just learned how to blog and am extremely computer illiterate. if my daughter had not moved to ukraine, i might still not know how to email. i've learned a lot and learned a lot more when she was in the US to teach me more but i doubt that i'll ever have my own blog.
3. i started visiting discoshaman's blog to keep up on the political happenings over there. then i heard about your blog through that one and started visiting. i enjoy reading many of the articles. many of the commenters are probably the ages of my daughters. i don't always agree on all the child rearing comments. my perspective is considerably different than it was when my children were at home. if i had it to do over again, i have areas i would emphasize that i didn't the first time around. the most important thing i would do is to emphasize what is right/true. (vs. going on about what is wrong--it is easily tuned out by kids unfortunately.) when that is done, the false is shown up for what it is. i didn't used to think that. the power of truth is incredibly strong.
4. other blogs-joe missionary-is that not a darling baby?! amy's humble musings-very provocative/challenging. challies.com-love the book reviews and discussions. seejesus.net blog-always enjoy paul's openness and transparency. his book is very good and the study on the life of Christ is great. there are others i glance at but those are the most frequent regular stops.
thanks for the time you take to work on your blog. martha

I read it for Reformed theology and devotional material, news from Ukraine, and sensible writing on child-rearing.

2. Do you have a blog of your own? If so, what is the link? If no, why not?

When I'm bored, Dooce ( http://www.dooce.com ) and Outer Life ( http://www.outerlife.com ) and Manolo's Shoe Blog (http://www.shoeblogs.com ) make me laugh, although they are not entirely family-friendly.
Mental Multivitamin ( http://mentalmultivitamin.blogspot.com ) and Circle of Quiet ( http://acircleofquiet.blogspot.com ) and Happy Catholic ( http://happycatholic.blogspot.com ) and Destination: Samarquand ( http://amiralace.blogspot.com ) make me think -- and so, of course, does Tulipgirl!
