How Do You Do This?

Last night Hubby had to teach the boys how to flush an American toilet.

We're back in the States.

When my friend came to visit the US from Kiev a couple of weeks ago, I asked her what she would tell people about the US that seemed weird to her and the only thing she said was the toilets :)

Ukrainian toilets have a knob on top of the tank that you pull up, rather than a lever on the side that you push down. *grin*

John's teaching the boys how to flush a US toilet brings to mind the story told by an elder emeritus (now with the Lord) of our congregation. He was born on a farm in rural Oklahoma in 1907. His family moved to Lawton when he was 8 years old, arriving at night in a buckboard. He was asleep, and his father carried him into his uncle's house. The next morning his father showed he and his sister how to use a flush toilet and how to turn on an electric light. The rest of the day he spent flushing stuff down the loo with his sister, amazed at all of the swirling action.....my, how we take our technology for granted.
