Saturday on the Gator Gal

Today we went to Myakka River State Park to ride the air boat and look for alligators.

T7, C4, J8 and R5 in front of the Gator Gal.

That is a great outing/excursion. If you go in cooler weather, e.g. November to April, you'll most likely see even more 'gators. In hot weather they stay under water to be cooler.

This brings back happy memories! We honeymooned in Sarasota and took a ride on the Gator Gal one afternoon. Didn't see many gators, but the guide pointed out the many marsh hens and anhingas about. (We learned that anhingas are the non-waterproof waterfowl. They have to spread their wings to dry out after a dip in the water.)

LOVE the pic of the boys. Adorable. I wish we could have joined you on the hunt. I think my boys would have gone C R A Z Y! They get excited about looking for ants.

about two years ago, i casually mentioned that you had to be careful when you swim in a lake because of the alligators. after he stopped laughing, he informed me that alligators are regional. i just assumed that lakes=alligators. i still find it hard to believe that there are lakes without gators.

oh how wonderful! So glad you got to go 'gator hunting' with the boys - you can't do that in many places!! Back in the world of heat, humidity and crazy wildlife. Makes me want to go read some Carl Hiaasen. :)
