One Year

This is where I would insert a post reflecting on what life and the Lord has brought us in the past year. One year ago today, we stepped back onto US soil. One year ago was the ending of our life in Ukraine. Understandably, I've been a bit emotional today. Contemplative.

And I can't quite bring myself to blog on it beyond this.

But I do want to thank everyone who has prayed for us, supported us, encouraged us--both in our time in Ukraine and our time in the States.

Don't know why you were in the Ukraine...was it ministry or business? My dear friend just came back from central asia and it is a hard adjustment. I did peek back at your pic from March, and that one pic with you and your mom in a park across from a red brick building looks familiar. I spent time in Kiev many years ago when it was still the USSR. I remember spending time with a young couple in a park across from a building like that...it was a school of some sort...fuzzy memory though.

Good memory, Kristie! Yes, that's taken in Schevschenko Park across from "Red University."

We were in Ukraine from 11/2001 thru 4/2005 on a church planting team, in support of a Ukrainian pastor with Mission to the World. Hubby is in grad school now. We'd love to return overseas--maybe central Europe, maybe western Europe, maybe western Ukraine--for him to teach and for us to be in a less formal supportive role at a local church plant.

I've been thinking of you about this very thing as it's been a year for us too (a year on April 4). Though not cross-country, still a relationally wrenching process.

And not feeling like a blog post could do it justice, so I keep silent also.

Saw Heather today, though I didn't get to say hello. So several reasons why you have come to mind lately.

How long does Mr Tulip have left at grad school? It's hard getting settled in one place for a few years and then to move again, especially with your boys.

We have not lived for more than 3 years in any one place since we married nearly 8 years ago. We have been in our fourth home here in London for 2.5years.

I'm coming up on my year anniversary, too. I was in St. Louis for Easter and had an incredible Easter Service and Good Friday service. Last week at North Shore Fellowship in Chattanooga the Palm Sunday service was amazing. I still just sit in the pew in absolute wonder at the blessing of being in a "real" church with "real" music and "real" preaching (in English). It just feels like pouring water on a scorched ground. Why was Ukraine so very hard?
