My First WIC Conference
I just registered for the PCA 2006 Women in the Church Conference. I found out this morning that a group of women from our home church in St. Pete will be attending together and the early bird registration ends next Monday. I was just talking with Hubby about it earlier this week, so he told me, "You want to--why don't you just go?"
This will be my first WIC conference. I'm kinda hopeful that some of the women I've known from MTW will be there. . . I miss the MTW community.
Anyway. . . If any of y'all are planning on going, let me know! We'll have coffee.

i don't think you'll be sorry you went. i've been to quite a few and they have all been helpful. i'm looking forward to this one as well--going with a whole new group of people! martha

well, i didn't think i was going, but maybe i am! a friend asked me to go to what i thought was a mtw conference, just like we did two years ago in september. but it is that same weekend, and i doubt the pca is having two conferences then...so i guess it's teh wic conference i'm going to! how cool! if it turns out to be the same one, we'll definitely have to meet for coffee!! :)

You're sure to enjoy it, even find it inspirational. I'm registered;this will be my third time. Four to six from our church will be going.

I'm going! I mean, I'm hoping to go. I'm applying for a scholarship for poor people who really really really want to go but just moved across the country and had to buy everything that "normal" people get when they get married. I'm pretty sure I'll be going though. Maybe we could room together!

Mike Campbell, awesome pastor of Redeemer Church (PCA) in Jackson, MS
Ligon Duncan, pastor of First Pres in Jackson, MSNice conference; I'll have to advertise it at church.

Wow! What a swing of emotions ...
FIRST I thought, "TULIP Girl was at the WIC conference (this past March) and I didn't get to meet her! Bummer!"
But now that I've re-read your post I see that you'll be in Atlanta in September. Yeah rah!
I'm a big fan and hope that I can give you a thank you hug in person. If not, I'll just grin as I think of you and we sit with 6,000 other women (under such wonderful pastors--I totally agree that they are heroes of the faith!) and share fellowship, worship, study, and teaching "together."
You are greatly appreciated, TulipGirl!
In Christ our Joy,
Tara Barthel

Wow, Tara! Your kind words made my day. Let's e-mail closer to conference time, and see if we can set aside some time between sessions for coffee and a chat!
Lil' Miss, I'm trying to room with the women from our church. (Still trying to get plugged in and reconnected there. . .) But, that's still written in pencil. I've e'd the Laurichka to see whether she's going--I'd love for us all to room together. *grin* Do you know whether Dawn or anyone from Kyiv is on HMA and will be there?
Gunny, I've listened to those teachers online before, but not in person. Should be great. *grin*
martha--will Dawn be stateside and going? Let's try to get together, if we can.FLGrandma. . . I feel so horrid for not e-mailing you. *blush* I know you're not far from us, and I can't believe we've been back a year and still haven't gotten together, even with your generous invitation to dinner. Will you please forgive me? And, maybe we can get together soon?
Chewy--did you find out whether it was this conference? I'm soooo excited about meeting you IRL!
Kathy--you aren't that far a drive away. . . Maybe it would work out? And I think I deleted your comment when spam-cleaning.

Sheena, hmmmmm. .. something to think about. I bet I could hijack the laptop from Hubby.
since i don't know how much dawn is on the internet right now, i can answer some of your questions. dawn IS coming...is in the US right now. 2 ladies are coming from ukraine--one from holy trinity, one from salominski church. i can't give you their names right now. i didn't write them down. i know they are both in their 20's and speak english well. one will be in the US only for that w/e. the three of them will be staying at the omni. i will be there with a lady from my church and one from my presbytery. we will be at the marriott. it will be a first time for them. we had all our plans in place b/f dawn even knew she would/could come. our family will have a get-together the week after the conference--our 38th anniversary.

finding each other in that huge group will be quite a feat:) especially since we're in such diverse presbyteries, etc. i hope it works out. who knows? we may bump into each other in the restroom...or at Tara's seminar:) (choosing only 2 was impossible...it was like being at a buffet.) martha
i'm not going to the conference, but i'd love to have coffee :-)

I hope you'll share some highlights. I would really love to come. Maybe next year I would be able to--where will it be next year?
