Our Budding Calvinist. . .
J9 asked Hubby tonight, "Are you a 5-point Calvinist?" He's reading a "theological novel"about basic Reformed theology.
That led to a brief discussion on infralapsarian and amyraldian views between the two of them.
Then J9 turned to me, "What about you?"
"Why do you think I'm called TulipGirl?"
*grin*

Cute!! Sounds like your raising him well. BTW I love your name. Either a calvinist or someone from the streets, glad you are the first.

What's the title of the novel?
Posted by: Michele at April 30, 2006 05:47 AM
Is it a book my boys would like? Your dh must be in his element!

The book is A Journey in Grace, and one I read when I was still synthesizing Reformed theology and the Bible knowledge I had from my growing up years.
The Amazon Reviews give a good overview. And as Tim Challies said, "as fiction goes, it is quite poor. But as theology it is exceptional."
J9 and I were having some confrontation time/bonding time the other night that led to talk of spiritual struggles which led to some of the ideas in TULIP which led to me pulling this book off of the shelf. . . He's almost done with it, and so I need to get his full feedback.
Considering he's been in a Mennonite school this year, I think he needed a little more Reformed worldview at this point. . . *L*

Btw, it's also available from Grace and Truth Books. I'm not sure where we got our copy.

Love it!! I so knew you were talking about the Richard Belcher books immediately. Aren't they the best? I love all the "Journey" books. Don't your kids know the "C" word is bad?!?!?!?! (There is definately sarcasm intended here!)

That is so cute! What a smart bunch of lads you have there.
Last year, my daughter (then 15 years old) was talking to her friend about me and I heard her say, "Well, my mom's a Calvinist." The girl didn't know what she said, and my daughter said "It would take too long to explain."

The Journey series is also available at www.richbarrypress.com. I've read all of the Journey books, and enjoyed them all. I enjoyed the fiction parts of them too, I had to keep reading to find out what happened. What I like about Dr. Belcher is that he writes in a way the common person can understand. I highly recommend anything he writes.

Thanks, Lynn. I didn't know there were more books related to that one. I'll have to look into them. This one made QUITE an impact on J9.
