The Ringling is a great museum! (A local treasure - underused, I think.)
I've seen this painting and love the intense blue. It's my older son's favorite color.

Some of Hubby's and my early romantic memories are at the Ringling and the grounds. The grounds always have free access, and the art museum is free on Mondays. (Used to be Saturdays--a stipulation of John Ringling's will.) To my knowledge C'ad Zan (sp?) and the Circus Museum don't have free days.

I agree with you that it is an underutilized local treasure. We've only been once since we've been back. . .

Oh, I am honored to be called the curator, but, most certainly, I do not qualify. What I love, is the education that I've gotten already. There is a numinous quality about the Blue Madonna that really captures the words we have in scriptural accounts. Thank you! This picture will be with me for many days, close to the surface of my thoughts.

We vacation in Sarasota and try to visit the museum every year. We didn't make it last summer, but I hope to this time. We leave this week!

That picture really catches what you think of Mary: sweet, young and humble. And the blue is stunning. It makes me want to keep looking at it.

This week, huh? Well. . . if you've got nothing else to do (yeah, right!) drop me an e-mail. Maybe we can meet up?
