Looks like you've done some of the fun stuff; good for you!
Posted by: Kim from Hiraeth at August 19, 2006 07:14 PM
Looks like you're getting all of the important stuff done. I would have been dissappointed if you hadn't eaten that Dove icecream bar yet. :)
Posted by: Michelle-This One's for the Girls at August 19, 2006 07:42 PM
You've got to try Ben and Jerry's Black and Tan ice cream. Cream Stout and Chocolate--YUM!
Posted by: Kim from Hiraeth at August 19, 2006 08:59 PM
Kim, I ALMOST bought that one!
(Dove won out because it was on sale. . . Ever the practical mommy.)
Posted by: TulipGirl at August 19, 2006 09:18 PM
Good night and good luck is a chick flick?
Could have fooled me :).
Seriously though, it was really great commentary on society today and (from an apolitical standpoint) a culture of fear that is pervasive amongst us.
Other warning though, there is an obvious agenda that comes at you like a locomotive if you're not careful...

Yeah. . . quite an agenda. Enough that Hubby and I didn't want to "waste" one of our few times together to watch it. But a friend told me about a part of it that has motivated me to watch it anyway. . . I started it last night, but fell asleep right away.
Posted by: TulipGirl at August 20, 2006 11:38 AM
hehehe
I am ever the practical mommy, too. It was on sale but it won't have to be on sale the next time. You really do need to try it.
Posted by: Kim from Hiraeth at August 20, 2006 01:00 PM
Hmmmm. . . Maybe I'll make that my incentive. Finish the housework, and then run out for ice cream for when Hubby gets home. *grin*

Really? Which part? You guys don't strike me as the type that would want or be into a movie like that.
Personally, I just appreciated Murrow's character, in general. It was sort of that willingness to speak truth into a situation that needed it. Sure, it was a fictionalized account and, like you said, Clooney comes at it with his own personal beef against the current administration.
But still, Murrow's portrayal was just engaging.

Hey, I see you didn't finish the fridge/freezer. I dislike this job and so hired it out for $5.00 to a more than willing older child who did better than I.
I don't pay for regular jobs around the house, but when I want something extra done and someone is eager to earn a little extra it is always a blessing to us both.
Just a thought!
Posted by: Mist at August 23, 2006 12:18 AM
Good idea, Mist!
I got the worst of it done, but didn't do the "deep clean" I wanted to do. . . Ah, well. . .
Posted by: TulipGirl at August 23, 2006 10:22 PM
Dove Chocolate/Cherry Courtship Ice Cream
Thank goodness you got to that one!
Oh well, on Good Night and Good Luck. :-) Maybe another time. There's a great scene with a courageous underdog standing up to narcissistic bully run amok. I found that inspiring.
Posted by: Kathy at August 23, 2006 11:36 PM
Kathy--that's why I got it! And as it is Netflix. . . Well. . . I might get to it tomorrow night while Hubby is at work. *GriN*
